How is cloud data transfer billed?
As of September 28, 2026, on AWS internet egress from North America starts at $0.09 per GB; CloudFront starts at $0.085 per GB; and a NAT gateway costs $0.045 an hour plus $0.045 per GB processed. Your bill is each traffic type's gigabytes times its rate, tier by tier, plus any hourly charges.

Frequently asked questions
What does AWS charge for bandwidth?
At list prices, internet egress from North America starts at $0.09 per GB; CloudFront starts at $0.085 per GB; and a NAT gateway costs $0.045 an hour plus $0.045 per GB processed. AWS's first 100 GB of internet egress a month is free across all services and regions. Cross-AZ traffic is billed $0.01 per GB on each side, $0.02 in all. NAT gateway rates are US East's; some regions charge more.
How much does AWS charge for data transfer out?
From US and European regions, EC2 internet egress is $0.09 per GB for the first 10 TB a month, $0.085 for the next 40 TB, $0.07 for the next 100 TB and $0.05 beyond 150 TB, after 100 GB a month free across your account. Singapore starts at $0.12 and São Paulo at $0.15. Transfer to another region is $0.02 per GB from the US, and between availability zones $0.01 each way.
