How is cloud data transfer billed?
As of September 28, 2026, on Akamai Cloud (Linode) each server includes 4,000 GB of transfer in North America, pooled, with overage at $0.005 per GB; there is no self-service CDN; and there is no managed NAT gateway to pay for. Your bill is each traffic type's gigabytes times its rate, tier by tier, plus any hourly charges.

What does Akamai Cloud (Linode) charge for bandwidth?
At list prices, each server includes 4,000 GB of transfer in North America, pooled, with overage at $0.005 per GB; there is no self-service CDN; and there is no managed NAT gateway to pay for. Each Linode adds its transfer allowance to a pool; the calculator assumes 4,000 GB a server, the Linode 4 GB plan's. Overage is $0.005 per GB in core regions, $0.007 in São Paulo and $0.015 in Jakarta. Traffic to other regions counts as outbound transfer. Akamai's CDN is sold on contract, so cached traffic is priced as origin egress.
What does Linode charge for transfer over the allowance?
$0.005 per GB in core regions, half DigitalOcean's rate, with $0.007 in São Paulo and $0.015 in Jakarta. Each Linode adds its monthly allowance to the account's pool; the 4 GB shared plan includes 4,000 GB. Inbound traffic and traffic over private networks in the same data center are free, but traffic to another region counts against the pool.
