How is cloud data transfer billed?

As of September 28, 2026, on Oracle Cloud internet egress from North America starts at $0.0085 per GB after 10 TB free; there is no self-service CDN; and the NAT gateway is free. Your bill is each traffic type's gigabytes times its rate, tier by tier, plus any hourly charges.

monthly = tiered(internet egress) + CDN delivery + misses × origin fetch + inter-region GB × rate + cross-AZ GB × rate + NAT gateways × hourly × 730 + NAT GB × processing rate

This page uses the same method as the Cloud Egress Cost Calculator, which explains each term and assumption in full.

Worked example

A workload in North America on Oracle Cloud: 10 TB a month to the internet, 500 GB to another region, 1,000 GB across zones, 500 GB through NAT, on 3 servers.

  1. 1Internet egress: $4.25
  2. 2Total: $4.25 a month

$4.25 a month on Oracle Cloud, $51.00 a year. The cheapest cloud listed that runs servers, DigitalOcean, would cost $0.00 a month.

Frequently asked questions

What does Oracle Cloud charge for bandwidth?

At list prices, internet egress from North America starts at $0.0085 per GB after 10 TB free; there is no self-service CDN; and the NAT gateway is free. OCI includes the first 10 TB of outbound transfer each month free, and bills traffic to other regions as outbound transfer against the same allowance. Its NAT gateway and traffic between availability domains cost nothing. OCI has no self-service CDN of its own, so cached traffic is priced as origin egress.

How much egress does Oracle Cloud include free?

10 TB of outbound data transfer a month per region group. Beyond it, transfer from North America, Europe and the UK costs $0.0085 per GB, about a tenth of AWS's first-tier rate, and from Asia Pacific, Japan and South America $0.025. Traffic to other OCI regions counts as outbound transfer, while the NAT gateway and traffic between availability domains cost nothing.
