Traffic to users

GB / month

Everything your servers, storage and CDN send to users and other services on the internet.

Each provider's own CDN: CloudFront, Cloud CDN, Front Door, Cloudflare or Spaces CDN.

Traffic inside the cloud

GB / month

Replication, backups and calls to services in a different region.

GB / month

Service-to-service calls, load balancing and database replicas in other zones of the same region.

NAT and servers

GB / month

Outbound calls, package and image pulls from private subnets.

Usually one per availability zone.

Sets pooled transfer allowances and Cloud NAT's per-VM fee.

How is cloud data transfer billed?

As of September 28, 2026, on Hetzner Cloud each server includes 1,024 GB of transfer in North America, pooled, with overage at $0.0011 per GB; there is no self-service CDN; and there is no managed NAT gateway to pay for. Your bill is each traffic type's gigabytes times its rate, tier by tier, plus any hourly charges.

monthly = tiered(internet egress) + CDN delivery + misses × origin fetch + inter-region GB × rate + cross-AZ GB × rate + NAT gateways × hourly × 730 + NAT GB × processing rate

This page uses the same method as the Cloud Egress Cost Calculator, which explains each term and assumption in full.

Worked example

A workload in Europe on Hetzner Cloud: 10 TB a month to the internet, 500 GB to another region, 1,000 GB across zones, 500 GB through NAT, on 3 servers.

  1. 1Every line falls inside the free allowances.

$0.00 a month on Hetzner Cloud, $0.00 a year. The cheapest cloud listed that runs servers, DigitalOcean, would cost $0.00 a month.

Frequently asked questions

What does Hetzner Cloud charge for bandwidth?

At list prices, each server includes 1,024 GB of transfer in North America, pooled, with overage at $0.0011 per GB; there is no self-service CDN; and there is no managed NAT gateway to pay for. Each cloud server includes traffic: 20 TB in Germany and Finland, 1 TB in the US and 0.5 TB in Singapore on the smallest shared plans. Overage is €1 per TB (€7.40 in Singapore), converted to dollars at the ECB rate. Traffic to servers in another network zone counts as outgoing. Hetzner has no South American region and no CDN.

Why does Hetzner's included traffic differ by location?

Hetzner sets the allowance and overage rate per location. A small cloud server includes 20 TB a month in Europe but 1 TB in Ashburn or Hillsboro and 0.5 TB in Singapore, where overage is also €7.40 per TB instead of €1. For high-traffic workloads the European locations are much cheaper.
