Fine-tune
Sized to cover a year of your consumption, at 5.5 peak sun hours a day in Madhya Pradesh.
About 100 sq ft per kW. Leave at 0 for no limit.
Typical for an on-grid system from an empanelled vendor. Replace it with your quote.
Indian residential tariffs have historically risen 4-7% a year.
Monocrystalline panels typically lose about 0.5% a year.

How the Madhya Pradesh Solar Calculator (MPEB) works
Saving₍y₎ = [Bill(U) − Bill(U − G₍y₎/12)] × 12 × (1 + e)^(y−1), G₍y₎ = kW × H × 365 × PR × (1 − d)^(y−1)This page uses the same method as the Solar ROI Calculator India, which explains each term and assumption in full.
Worked example
A Madhya Pradesh home on MPEB with a ₹2,500 monthly bill and a flat RCC roof, assuming prices rise 5% a year.
- 1Working the bill back through the MPEB slabs, charges and duty gives about 265 units a month
- 2At 5.5 peak sun hours, 2 kW makes about 258 units a month, 97% of that use
- 32 kW at ₹60,000 per kW costs ₹1,20,000; PM Surya Ghar pays ₹60,000, leaving ₹60,000
- 4The first year saves ₹28,458, and the saving grows as tariffs rise
The system pays for itself in about 2.1 years and leaves the household about ₹12,03,446 ahead over 25 years.
Frequently asked questions
Why does solar cut fixed charges in Madhya Pradesh?
Above 150 units a month, MPERC sets the urban fixed charge by consumption, not by your sanctioned load: every 15 units counts as 0.1 kW and costs ₹30. A home using 300 units pays ₹600 in fixed charges; bring the net units down with solar and that falls too, so each unit saved is worth about ₹2 more than the energy rate.
Does this cover all three MP DISCOMs?
Yes. MPERC sets one domestic tariff for the West (Indore), Central (Bhopal) and East (Jabalpur) zone companies, so the calculation is the same wherever you live in the state. Rural homes pay slightly lower fixed charges than the urban rates used here.
How does net metering settle on MPEB?
Net metering with banked units carried through the financial year and any surplus settled at the MPERC-approved rate.
