How many units is 0.25 mg of semaglutide?

0.25 mg of semaglutide is 25 units at 1 mg/mL, 10 units at 2.5 mg/mL, 5 units at 5 mg/mL. Divide 0.25 mg by your vial's mg/mL and multiply by 100 for the units on a U-100 insulin syringe. On the FDA label, 0.25 mg is the dose for weeks 1–4.

units = dose (mg) ÷ concentration (mg/mL) × 100

This page uses the same method as the GLP-1 Dosage Calculator, which explains each term and assumption in full.

Worked example

A 0.25 mg semaglutide dose from a 5 mg vial mixed with 2 mL of bacteriostatic water.

  1. 1Concentration: 5 mg ÷ 2 mL = 2.5 mg/mL
  2. 2Volume: 0.25 mg ÷ 2.5 mg/mL = 0.1 mL
  3. 3Units: 0.1 mL × 100 = 10 units
  4. 4Doses per vial: 5 mg ÷ 0.25 mg = 20

Draw to the 10 units line, on a 0.3 mL (30 units) U-100 insulin syringe.

Frequently asked questions

Which syringe should I use for 0.25 mg of semaglutide?

At 2.5 mg/mL, 0.25 mg is 10 units, so a 0.3 mL (30 units) U-100 syringe holds it. Use the smallest syringe that holds the whole dose: its lines are closer together, so the dose is easier to measure.

How many 0.25 mg doses are in a 2.5 mg vial?

10 full doses. At one dose a week that is 10 weeks, but multi-dose vials are usually discarded 28 days after first use, so check your pharmacy's beyond-use date.
