How is stamp duty calculated in Ahmedabad?

Stamp duty in Ahmedabad is 3.5% stamp duty plus a 1.4% surcharge. On a ₹70 L flat a man pays ₹3,43,000 in duty and ₹70,000 in registration, ₹4,13,000 in all. A woman buying alone pays ₹3,43,000, saving ₹70,000. The charge counts toward the new house's cost for Section 54 and 54F, here adding ₹2,73,943 to a 54F exemption.

stamp = max(price, circle value) × duty% (+ cess on duty); registration = value × reg% (capped in some states); new house cost C = price + stamp + registration, counted up to ₹10 crore; net consideration N = sale price − transfer costs; LTCG = N − cost (or N − indexed cost); Section 54 (82): exemption = min(LTCG, C); Section 54F (86): exemption = LTCG × C ÷ N, at most LTCG; tax = (LTCG − exemption) × 12.5% (or 20% indexed) × (1 + surcharge) × 1.04
